Could be the connector from the mobo to the screen has came loose or shorted out also the backlight could be gone look close into the laptop screen or shine a light into it

When you say tri core processor which one is it , gddr5 graphic card are better for gaming, i guess you adjusted your graphic card settings , i would suggest a gtx 650 ti and might need to upgrade the psu as well

Make sure your motherboard has a pci-e slot , at least a 500 watt psu and a good one ,and the processor is at least a amd athlon x3 or phenomllx 4 series or a intel i5/i7 series , i suggest these processors which is good for the gtx 550 ti
