should I upgrade my processor or graphics card?
Using Skyrim as a reference, I cant run anything above the bare minimum setting. Skyrim's reccomended setting are medium and when I play on those settings I get about 5-6 seconds of lag which makes it completly unplayable. have a tri core processor at 3.2 Ghz each and a 1GB GDDR3 Graphics card. Another game a play, Dungeons and Dragons Online, also experiences this horrendous lag, but only while it's using directX11, directX10 works but is a little choppy. With tax time coming up i'll have enough money to upgrade one or the other, the question is which? I'd also apreciate suggestions for parts, suggestions on how to fix this problem without upgrading, and any feedback really.
Update:well that was fast and concise, yes my motherboard has 1 PCIe x16 slot. Any recomendations anyone?
Budget: ~$250

Its probably your Graphics card that could use the upgrade, but what is your internet speed? The lag on your games could have something to do with your internet connection. Do you have fast DSL? Sometimes DSL can slow down if you are using a lot of bandwidth. Check to see if your internet connection is what is slowing you down, before you upgrade your system.
Definitely graphics card. The difference between DX11 and DX10 performance shows that your GPU is not powerful enough for the newer framework.
Can't recommend a graphics card without ideas of your budget, and whether your motherboard has PCI-express x16 slots or not.
Your processor has to examine the socket form of your motherboard with a view to artwork. in the adventure that your motherboard has the comparable socket sort as an i5 than you're in stable shape, if no longer, then you are out of success and could might desire to purchase a mobo that helps an i5 processor. With the gpu, i think of you ought to evaluate saving up a sprint money and pass with a GTX670 or 680. Their expenditures will drop quickly because of 690. 550ti is getting a sprint old. better of success.
When you say tri core processor which one is it , gddr5 graphic card are better for gaming, i guess you adjusted your graphic card settings , i would suggest a gtx 650 ti and might need to upgrade the psu as well
Agreed, Graphics card.
