Why is my processor so slow?

I have a pentium dual core e5200 2.50 ghz. Why is it so slow? It takes about 5-7 minutes just to open the windows media player app. The windows experience index indicates that it's only 2.7 compared to most other people's identical cpu with 4.00 gb ram at 5.6-6.4... What's wrong?

Update:

I have 4GB Ram which is definitely enough for me as I dont use this computer for gaming.

  • Slow Processor

  • Press Ctrl Shift and ESC at the same time, what is the CPU usage?

Click on processes then CPU, it'll tell you what is using the CPU time.

If needed buy a new CPU of eBay (get a core 2 duo for about £10-£30!

  • Hello,

Cleaning the register is a good way of improving the performances of your pc and eliminate malwares and trojans. A program I trust is CCleaner http://bit.ly/UrApRT

    It works very well.

  • @ gd you are a amazing person, lol, agree clean up some of the junk files{mainly the registry} and disable some of the programs running in the background should increase your windows experience index

  • Yes, your computer is slow.

Check and see what programs you have running that you don't need.

    Reinstall your operating system.
