• Try taking a rubber mallet and pipe wrench. Use wrench to apply some pressure like your trying to spin it, and at the same time tap on it with the mallet.

• Check idler arm first. Get a floor jack, one big enough to lift entire front end up, both front tires. Grab one of the front tires and check for play. Have another person turn steering wheel back and forth while looking for slack.
