If you buy the 5 they will only be replaced with 5 more. I would rather attempt to contact someone above the manager (the store owners perhaps) and make a formal complaint. Be sure to check in frequently and don't be afraid to speak up! :)

All you can do is change the water and clean his tank really well and hope he didn't become poisoned.
