Easy math problem ( short ) ?

Tiffany is standing at the midpoint between her house and school. If the distance from her house to the school is 5x - 13 meters and she is standing x+4 meters away from her house, what is the distance between Tiffany's house and school?

THANKS!

  • All you have to do is multiply x+4 by two and set it equal to 5x - 13.

    So, 2(x+4) = 5x-13

    Then solve for x, and substitute in the original equations, and you have your answer!

    Hope this helped! :)

  • If she is at the midpoint then the distance from her house to the school is double that of the distance of her house to her.

    Therefore 5x - 13 = 2(x + 4)

    5x - 13 = 2x + 8

    3x = 21

    x = 7

    Now substite back into the original equation: 5x - 13 = 35 - 13 = 22m.

  • 2(x+4)=5x-13

    2x+8=5x-13

    -3x=-21

    x=7

    So the distance between Tiffanys house and the school is

    5(7) - 13=22 meters

  • ingredient out the 5: 5(m^2+4m+4)=0 0.5=0 so which you only ignore approximately it now: m^2+4m+4=0 you could the two ingredient or use the quadratic equation. i will teach the two strategies: (m+#)(m+@)=0 you like # cases @ to equivalent the 4 it extremely is thru itself and # plus @ to equivalent the 4 with the m so 2x@=4 and a pair of+2=4. (m+2)(m+2)=0 Then m=-2 Quadratic equation: m^2+4m+4=0 is interior the form am^2+bm+c=0. The quadratic equation is: adverse b plus and minus the sqaure root of (b squared minus 4 cases a cases c) and ALL of it extremely is divided with the aid of 2 cases a. that supplies you 2 solutions. so (-4 +/- sqrt(sixteen-(4*a million*4)))/(2*a million). That simplifies to: -4/2 = -2. there is purely one answer because of the fact the sqaure root cancels to 0. -2 is a double root.

  • 2(x+4)=5x-13

    where the distance between her house and school is 5.67 meters

  • 11 meters? I just started problems like that so it may not be right. I think x=7...

  • Richard H is correct. He deserves the best answer. I deserve a thumbs up

  • im sorry mam we are out of that but may i suggest the soup of the day

  • nooo clueee
