Tiffany is standing at the midpoint between her house and school. If the distance from her house to the school is 5x - 13 meters and she is standing x+4 meters away from her house, what is the distance between Tiffany's house and school?

All you have to do is multiply x+4 by two and set it equal to 5x - 13.
So, 2(x+4) = 5x-13
Then solve for x, and substitute in the original equations, and you have your answer!

If she is at the midpoint then the distance from her house to the school is double that of the distance of her house to her.
Therefore 5x - 13 = 2(x + 4)
5x - 13 = 2x + 8
3x = 21
x = 7
