Do yourself a favor and DO NOT BUY a SEA DOO.?

I had a problem with my 260 RXT/As. ~55 hours on my bike and the muffler separated from the manifold via the Exhaust Bellows.. This is the round rubber Bellows that connects the Muffler to the exhaust manifold, held on by a round clamp; This is what separated.

My boat would have sank if I did not beach it in time and have a retrofitted small bilge pump.

While towing the bike in, I plugged up the 3/4 valve in the stern to stop the water from coming in. Since I live on the water and could NOT get the Ski up on the dock (not running),

I left the plug in so it would not take on water.

Upon arrival at the dealer, they told me the problem happened was because I plugged up the hole.

I explained my situation, they responded and stated it was not plausible.

Seadoo Corp, in Canada told me they would not provide service because the part was not a real part (, I did not understand this ?). The exhaust Bellows can not be seen unless you virtually take the bike all apart. My statement was that the Round Stainless clamp was not tightened properly, which caused the physical separation of the of the two.

In my opinion, you are a JACKASS if you buy a Sea-Doo.

If I can stop one person from going through this grief, I have done my job.

Please pass this msg on to anyone considering buying one.

My 260 Rxt was bought in 2011 and I have ~55 hours on her and paid over $17,000

By the way my YAMAHA VXR runs like a charm. You see, we needed 2 bikes, one for my wife and I.

There are at lease 20 Yamaha dealers in my neck of the woods Verse, 2 Seadoo dealers.

Sea Doo is a Canadian company and need I say more. The dealer told me, he does not make much money in the sale because of the completion with Yamaha. But will "RAPE" you when you need service, because you DO NOT HAVE A CHOICE.

Please pass this on and DO NOT BUY A SEA DOO. I did NOT do my homework and now I have paid the price. If you do not have at least 5 SeaDoo dealers within vicinity, DO NOT BUY.

They Will have you by the proverbial Gonad's.

  • Adam,

Truly sorry to hear your experience with Seadoo. I live on a lake and honestly with all the jet skis around have never heard anyone brag about the reliability of a Seadoo.

On the other hand Kawasaki and Yamaha are about as reliable as they come. I only would consider these two brands if purchasing today!

My teenager bought a used 1997 750SXI and flips and does hard 360s and the machine is tough as nails.
