on a 96 it's highly likely that the selector door is operated by a motor rather than vacuum. the place to start is the dash control center, pull it out and look at it, if it has thick wires then its safe to assume it's vacuum operated. if it has just thin wires then its safe to assume that it is electrically operated. the vacuum hoses kind of look like wiring but if you go by wire gauge then those are monster wires for a selector set up. once you have the selector out and are able to look at it , it will be most obvious which system you have, then it's just a case of dropping the dash under cover and finding which one controls the dash duct. i make that sound so easy, hehe, hehe, heeehheheheee hahahahaha. i hope you like spending hours upside down. you will b in the inverted position for a while. sorry didn't mean to spoil the fun
