Spectrophotometer: Control vs. BLANK?

When you're working with a spectrophotometer, what is the difference between using a CONTROL and using a BLANK??

    a control has broth media with no organisms in it, and is tested to get a background of how much light is blocked without any organisms clouding up the broth media. You then compare that to the broth media with microorganisms growing in it

    a cuvette with nothing it will not give an accurate picture, because the broth also blocks some light as well
