My family is planning a trip to colorado in June 2013 for 2 weeks (3 adults, 1 child). I am wanting to know if it is best to get one central hotel room in colorado springs and do stuff around there. we want to do pikes peak, garden of the Gods, denver mint, royle gorge, air force acedemy. Please share advise.

  • There is lots to do in Colorado Springs, and you will love it. Staying in Manitou Springs is a good idea....many of the things you want to see are nearby. If you are from a low altitude place, do not go up Pikes Peak til you have been in Colorado a few days. don't take anyone up there that has heart or lung problems. There is also tons to do in Denver...the Museum of Nature and Science, the zoo, the art museum ( you could go there same day you go to the mint as they are very close and it is a GREAT place, not just a bunch of pictures on a wall.) You may want to stay one or two nites in Denver...you will have time. Also, Rocky Mountain National Park is just an hr and a half northwest of Denver and is a fabulous place...great hiking, lots of wildlife, you can drive up to the continental divide...well worth at least a day. If you want 2 days there, stay in the little town of /Estes Park right by the national park. Make reservations VERY early. In Colorado Springs you can also go to Seven falls, and go horseback riding at Garden of the Gods. Take jackets, sometimes it is cold in Colorado Springs in June....and you always need jackets up top of Pikes Peak and in Rocky Mountain National Park. Oh, another great place in Colorado Springs is the Mining Museum...on the opposite side of I-25 at the same exit you take to go to the AFA. On the highway to boulder just north of Denver is the Butterfly pavilion...fantastic place. You can spend a LOT of time in Colorado and never run out of places to go and things to do. Do go to the Royal Gorge, too. You will LOVe Colorado springs. Have a great time.

  • I would stay in Manitou Springs http://www.manitousprings.org/ Close to Pikes Peak and other sights.

You can find a motel on the web site. The mint is in Denver about an hour and 15 min. north. I think you should find a motel and make reservations now, because they fill up fast that time of the year. You'll need to make reservations for the mint tour also.

  • Go to Cave of the Winds. Royal gorge is great too but if you want to walk across, plan a whole day and it can be expensive.

  • think of of approximately it this way, you have quite one threat to be in touch in this play, the quite ultimate determination? a as rapidly as in a life time adventure. the line holiday ? you're able to try this each and every time... colorado isn't likely any the situation.
