Nintendo WiFi Access Issues?

I have never had compatible WiFi with Nintendo, and when we got a new router, I was hoping that would change--but it didn't.

We have a NetGear router. I'll have to double-check the model if that's important.

Anyway, whenever I try to get online with my DS (Lite), it says my internet access isn't compatible with Nintendo. This is getting a bit frustrating because I've missed quite a few exclusive time events, and I don't want that to happen when I get Black/White Two.

Is there any sort of plug-in I could get or something?

Thanks in advance!

  • The cheapest and easiest way to make it Nintendo Wifi Compatible would be to purchase the Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector. You can pick one up at Gamestop for $10 bucks. :)

  • This is a well known problem with the old DS consoles. Unfortunately they are only able to connect to WEP password encrypted routers but currently almost every router today uses WPA encryption by default which the DS and DS lite can not connect to.

If you are playing on a DS lite then you will have to go into your router settings and configure it to WEP so I advice you consult your routers manual or search for how to do it online yourself.

  • NetGear's server just needs to have compatability with the system, since it the DS maybe cannot be recognized by the system, it may not be able to read the access point, since your DS may have had it's server name wrong, or it's DNS, that happens a lot with the type of server you are working with. If iyou want to fix it, check your router's settings and possibly try to fix the access point by the system's network, which may not be able to locate the server, or the router.

  • I had the same problem and I'm with talk talk i couldnt connect to any network using a DS lite and the only way I could connect was by getting a DSi
