TEENS: Do you keep a diary? ?

I don't but I am thinking about starting one. Should I?

  • yes, yes, a thousand times yes. it's one of the best things you can do because it's like having a friend that just sits there and listens. a friend that listens and doesn't judge, doesn't ask questions, doesn't tell.. the perfect listener. plus, to the people that were saying that you should just talk to your friends about your problems, what if you get in a fight and she spreads the stuff about you? even if she doesn't, she still thinks differently of you and may not be a good listener. besides, months from now, years even, you may want to look back at what was written and see how different your life is. i see myself doing that all the time. keeping my diary/journal/blue (I named it blue [:) was the best thing i ever did.

  • I've kept like 3 diaries but I'm currently not keeping one.

The last time I used it was last year during my depression, and there's some dark stuff in there that i'd rather not look at.

If I feel compelled to write anything, I'll usually just jot it anywhere i can. A scrap piece of paper, the side of a page, anywhere. I love writing and I usually get my best ideas that way.

Diaries are helpful in getting your emotions and feelings across. Whenever I wrote in my diary, I felt a sense of release. It almost always made me feel better. You should start one, I liked writing in mine.

  • Word of advice? Keep an online diary with a password and make sure you ALWAYS log out afterwards. I kept a regular diary before, and even though I hid it, someone ALWAYS found it[I have 2 sisters, 1 brother, both parents, and my cousins had lived with me at the time one of my diaries was discovered lol].

So yeah. Otherwise, diaries are good to keep to express feelings:]

  • Yeah, I have one :) I'm a 17-years-old girl and it's a secret diary. I try and write it in everyday, so that in the future I am able to look back at how my life was and how I was feeling at the time. Nobody reads it though expect me.

  • I don't have a diary though I did when I was little. I used to put the stuff in it that upset me and it did make me feel better. I don't know why I stopped, just grew out of it I guess.

  • Yeah I do have one but I don't really write in it a lot. I started it in November and there's big chunks of gaps from the dates lol. I just write in it when I have something like a really good memory or if I feel bad on one day or something.

  • I journal quite a bit, or at least try to.

If I have a random dose of creativity pop into mind, I write it in the journal.

and being in college, I keep reciepts from study dates at Starbucks or IHOP or something and then if we have a special event or something, I write about it. :-D

  • I have had some before and it is so much fun to read them back to yourself years later, record the years and how you feel!

nowadays there isn't enough going on to write one because there would be no memorial events to look back on.

  • I've tried before when I was younger but it seems like too much effort to go to when all I did was complain in it, lol. Plus my brother always found it and mocked it. I just stick to blogging(sometimes), talking to my friends, and statusing.

LOL I totally agree with you Whimsical One! He ALWAYS found it. No matter what. 0.o

  • Not usually. But if I feel something strong, I usually write to my friends.
