Is a primary school teacher a good job?

thinking of my career choices, primary school teaching is one of them, is it hard to become a primary school teacher and once you are one is it worth it.

  • It depends on whether you like teaching and like the age group of the kids and are flexible. You may have to tie shoes, put on boots, wipe noses, wash up messes (hopefully there is a custodian), and handle little fights and tears. If you thrive on that, and kids saying, "Mrs. your name" over and over again, then you will like it.

You may have to have double certifications now as elementary is no longer just one certification, but 3. So if you have 2 of them, or all 3, then you have more flexibility in case someone is laid off. You can get your masters within 5 years of graduating with BA or BS (in US) and sometimes union negotiated contract includes some tuition reimbursement. You have continuing ed anyway.

Beginning salaries are not always all that much, but where they have a schedule, it usually goes up quickly, especially if there is multi schedule with education columns and steps or experience columns. Teachers are needed. Biggest demand are for science and math, but other teaches are needed as well.

  • One good way to go if you want to teach preK is to get an Associates Degree in ECE. This will give you a lot of job flexibility and will also give you the option of later working toward a Bachelor's if you want to go that route. With an Associate's you can often work in a public school preschool as an aide or as a headstart aide (or as a teacher...sometimes in this economy you need a bachelor's for the teaching positions, though it is generally not a requirement at the preschool level). You can also work as a teacher in a private preschool.

  • Yes if you have a passion for teaching primary school kids, otherwise definitely not.

  • Every job that you succeed in is worth it ...

Do what you like ... Never do what you are forced to do ...

However, listen to others around you, take advice, and then make the wisest decision possible

  • u must have lot of patience to do that

you must be able to tell everything again and again for the kids without hesitating

  • if you are good at dealing with kids, sure!
