This isn't an Answer--but I just wanted to say that the term "Japs" is really a derogatory term--I think formed in the States at after the Pearl Harbor attack. Having lived during that time in Berkeley, and having good neighbors of Japanese descent, I really object to that term. (I know you have the right and opportunity to express yourself, but I just had to write.)
