It's about individual models and which ones work for you. You need to get fitted in a running specialty store. There's no best brand. That having been said, there are probably a lot more people wearing Nike than Adidas running shoes. I dare say there are probably more people wearing Adidas running clothing, especially the Adidas shorts. But there are other brands like Asics, Brooks, Saucony, etc. that lots of people wear as well.

Nike is better than Adidas, but for running shoes, the best brands are mizuno asics and new balance
I think Nike is higher quality, but i find that when it come to running Adidas are more light weight. I'd go with Adidas.
