Dadaism art/history project!?

for my history class I am doing a piece of art that involves dadaism....I came up with an idea of putting different races of people together (for example a white males head onto a black womens body) and have the meaning behind it be that different ppl should all be treated = no matter what. Does that sound okay or no?....any other suggestions?

  • The project that you have in mind leans more toward synthetic cubism rather than dadaism. You're idea is MUCH to complex for dadaism. Dadaists wanted their art to be simple and to have no meaning. Duchamp, the most famous Dadaist, worked using "readymades". He took an object that already existed and changed it VERY slightly. Here are a couple of links that show you his work:

Although I really like you're idea it is not suitable for this project. Instead, find some obscure item laying around and add a signature or word to it. Change its orientation. Add a strip of color. Something along those lines. Just remember not to put meaning into it. It's supposed to be random! Hope this helps!
