Windows Vista Will not let me do a complete system restore?
So I've been trying to restore my computers several times these past months. Unfortunately I cannot do this. My computer will not let me do a system restore. I have the recovery/restore discs but it won't read them. I've pressed R before it does a full boot but it still takes me to the home screen. I have tried System repair but it does the same thing and take me to the home screen. I've stressed every option and they've all taken me to the same place, the home screen. I have no idea what to do. Nothing will work. I tried looking for the Gateway Restore program but alas that is not available as well. Anyone have any new ideas? Oh I also uninstalled the Anti-virus program Norton. That did nothing.
Update:Everything with the computer works perfectly fine. It has no viruses etc. The reason I want to restore this computer is because I'm going to give it to a cousin of mine.
Update 3:When I select repair, it just takes me to the home screen. Literally, as weird as it is, everything I do takes me to the home screen. I about ready to just take out the HDD and put in a new. Or have my cousin do it since he's getting an older gaming rig for free.

okay - what happens when you reboot the computer and you press F8 several times?
Options should come up asking you how to proceed. It should ask if you would like to start windows normally, or if you would like to start up in safemode, safemode with networking, or to repair or restore.
