Voo Doo is very real. The common myth is that it wont effect you unless you believe in it...What a bunch of hogwash..I have seen it effect people that were either too young to believe or claimed they did not believe.
My Aunt practices Voo Doo and I'm always spooked when I go to her house because I feel so much weird energy around me.
Vodou is a spiritual tradition which originated in Haiti during the period of French colonial slavery. Africans of many ethnic lineages were transported by force to Haiti, primarily to serve as agricultural slaves. The original Taino and Carib peoples of Haiti were exterminated in the invasion by the Spanish. During this historical period, Europeans from France and other
countries, including pro-Stuart deportees from Scotland, settled in Haiti.
Because so many lineages were represented, no one particular African service could satisfy all participants, especially since reverence for
ancestral lines was so important. Therefore, each "nation" would take it's turn at a gathering. This "take turns" approach ventually evolved into the ceremonial order of the Vodou liturgy. During this formative period, European pre-Christian entities such as Brigid, or Maman Brigitte in the Vodou tradition; and influences from the native Taino and Carib populations
were also absorbed.
It WAS a real religion before the Spanish imperialists arrived. They wanted more money to help with their occupation, so they told the Church that the West-Indians were practising witchcraft, and so they would need more resources in order to convert them to Catholicism.
So they made up everything that we know about Voo-Doo, apart from the name, which was that of a real 'pagan' religion which was being practised at the time. The most interesting aspect of it being 'voo-doo dolls', which were actually a way of bestowing luck or health upon the user's loved-ones, and there is no evidence to suggest that they were ever used in the manner with which we associate them today.
It is a shame that an entire religion had to die because a few people are stupid enough to carry on these sterotypes
Voodoo is a religion, and there is also a related practice called hoodoo, which is not necessarily religious. Both are definitely practiced, and I know people who practice both and have claimed success with spellcasting in the traditions.
There's a whole book called "Voodoo and Hoodoo" by Jim Haskins you might check out that talks about the history of both.
voo doo is real - it's a religion...
the acts that most people associate with it CAN be bizzare - yes, they do practice some strange things... but honestly? what religion DOESN'T practice strange things??
Sometimes it's just a way of alleviating your aggressions. You could make one and do nasty things to it whilst imagining it is the person you have issues with. You're not evil but by making an image of the person and doing to the doll what you would like to do to the person is a perfect non-violent way of "getting back at them" Actually I think I have quite a few to make myself and I recon I'm going to be very busy.
Voo Doo is a real system of beliefs.
I suggest you read "Mama Lola"
Yes, Voodoo is real. I'm from Louisiana just like your mom; Omg, New Orleans is so spooky with this. I know it's a fact that they do Voodoo as a religion. My best friend is from New Orleans, LA and she told me that her grandfather woke up to find a poodle of blood next to his bed. He wasn't bleeding or anything, but it was next to his bed. That story gives me the chills still. ((((Shivers))) Blood next to a bed is a bad omen for like death. Her cousin ending up dying in an accident 2 days later because he was shot and lost a lot of blood.
Voodoo is a religion that is practice alot in certain cultres, it works for them because they practice and believe in it so much. I heard stories of people getting curse, but if you don't beleive in it it won't work on you.
Voodoo - (v´d) [from the god Vodun], native W African religious beliefs and practices that also has adherents in the New World. There are as many varieties of Voodoo as there are of Christianity, and they are all right in their theory. VOODOO LIES BENEATH THE BELIEVES OF PEOPLE.
