2002 Celica or 1996 3000GT?

Hi im looking to buy a car and im looking for speed and was wondering which would be faster: 2002 Celica GTS, with a 6 speed manual transmission, 1.8L 4 cylinder. or a 1996 Mitsubishi 3000GT 3.0 liter DOHC 24 valve V6 with MPI fuel injection. 4-speed o/d automatic transmission. also if you know faster cars for under $5000 that would be great. Thank you

  • They're both slow as **** compared to other cars floating around here, my own included. I'm sure Mark will chime in with his 11 sec Galant. That's a fast car.

You sound young. Quite frankly, any car you buy right now can hardly compete with anything. You should be more concerned with mileage and maintenance. YOU WILL NOT find either of those cheap with the 3000GT. Take one look in that engine bay and you'll see. No room for anything. Hell just to change the alternator you have to take the radiator out.

Please buy the Celica. It's going to be slow as hell but that 6 speed will really save you on gas.

Leave speed to the big boys and their toys.

  • The 3000GT is probably faster but I prefer manuals. Also if you could find a 1998-2002 Camaro Z28 for that price it will pretty fast stock.

  • With 180 hp for Celica GTS, I'll say this car performs like hell and its torqueless! However, 3000GT pumps 222 hp! So IMO, 3000GT is better.
