How do I put contents from a DVD onto my computer?
I took a video and it is on a DVD. I want to put it on my computer so I can send it to friends. I don't want to delete the DVD, or make a bunch of copies of it either. I just want to save it on my computer so I can email it.

I'm going to assume the DVD you want to copy is not a commercial DVD like Dark Knight, since that's technically illegal :-)
First, get a ripping program like DVD Decrypter or DVDFab. That is the program that copies the DVD files (all 7 or 8 Gigabytes of them) to your hard drive. From there, you can play the files on your computer just like if you had the DVD in the drive, or you can burn a backup copy to a writable DVD.
You can also convert the video into something smaller and more transportable. Once you do that, then you can store it on an iPod, you can put it on a file-sharing site and email the LINK to the files. No email server in existence will let you email the full-size DVD files to anybody, they are magnitudes too big.
If you really want to learn all the ins-and-outs of doing this, a website called digital-digest.com is a great place to start, lots of tutorial info.
If you are willing to pay a few bucks for a program that does it all, including turning the video or movie into iPod format, burning backup copies, and making versions for web or sharing, get DVDFab Platinum, because it does everything I just mentioned except for uploading to a file-sharing site!
Just use any ripping program to extract the files.
On a side note. I would not recommend trying to email large files like dvd iso's
Email is not meant for files that large and they might not even make it to their destination.
I would just convert the files to a format like .avi and host them on a video sharing site.
