I'm applying for a job and it needs my social security number. Do I add the dashes or not? When I type it, should it be xxx-xx-xxxx or xxxxxxxxx? Thank you!
Normally you would format a number in the common format. That is, dates in MM/DD/YY (if in US), Phone numbers as (xxx) xxx-xxxx and yes, social security numbers as xxx-xx-xxxx. If they do not want the formatting they will specify.
