How bad is minneapolis public transport system?
Update:
The Metro Transit System seems bad, with a commute of 75 minutes for a 5 mile distance. Dial-a-ride seems even worse during peak hours!!! Guess one cant do without a car here!!???

I managed 6 years w/o a car there so its totally do-able. The only way you can really get away with not having a car though is to live in the city. As long as you live near a major bus route or two its not a big deal. Yeah it can take 75 min to for a 5 mile ride, but you need to consider how often the bus runs and what areas its going thru. The best way to figure out how to get somewhere you haven't been before it to use the online plan a trip on the metro transit website. There are definate downsides to not having a car. But I found that not having to pay for gas/insurance/repairs or worrying about drinking and driving to be worth the inconviences of not having a car there. With any luck they will hurry the hell up on the lightrail system and then it should get significantly better.
ummm, i don't know, i don't live there, although i have been there to go to the mall of america. but still, i wouldn't have any idea.
are you talking about their buses? <groan>
never been on it
