when it comes to makeup, mascara is one of the most popular beauty products on the market. Mascara defines and brings color to the lashes, and highlights and dramatizes eyes. Different formulas can enhance your lashes in different ways. Follow these cosmetic tips to get the eye-enhancing lowdown on applying mascara.
things you'll need:
Mascara
Eye Makeup Removers
Waterproof Mascaras
Eyelash Comb
Eyelash Curlers
Facial Tissues
Cotton Swabs
1
Consider the types of mascara and select one appropriate for your lashes and the occasion. You have a choice of lengthening, thickening, long-wearing, conditioning and waterproof formulas, among others. For day, you might decide to add length, while a night on the town may require a long-wearing or thickening formula.
2
Select a color. If you have blond or red lashes, opt for brown mascara. Darker-lashed women can consider brown for a casual look, and black or brown-black for more pronounced or dramatic lashes.
3
Curl your lashes with an eyelash curler, if desired, and apply all other eye makeup prior to your mascara.
4
Remove the wand from the tube in one pull. Pumping the mascara will push air into the tube, potentially drying out the formula and introducing bacteria into it.
5
Begin with the underside of your upper lashes, moving the brush slowly upward toward the tips of your lashes. Always hold the wand parallel to your eyelid. Roll the brush slowly on the upward stroke to promote separation of the lashes.
6
Allow the first coat of mascara to dry before applying the second coat in the same manner.
7
Use an eyelash comb to separate the wet lashes. Also blot the lashes with tissue paper if necessary to remove excess mascara.
8
Use less mascara for the lower lashes. Begin where the lashes meet the rim of the lower eyelid, and gently stroke downward.
9
Remove any stray mascara around the eye with a cotton swab dipped in a small amount of eye makeup remover.
My eyelashes are nearly clear and very short, so I have a lot of improvement to do, so I've been trying to figure out the best tips and tricks of the trade for awhile. So...
I really need to buy an eyelash curler, I hear they work wonders. I don't have one, but I can make my eyelashes about 4 times longer just with mascara.
First off, I've found that using a lenthening (or volumizing, whichever you prefer) helps a lot over using just a basic! I use lengthening and the difference is huge. I also have a volumizing, and again, it acts very differently than just the basic stuff that I started out with.
Also, it helps a lot if I wiggle the wand from side to side as I'm pulling it through the eyelashes. I think it's because it coats every lash better that way. I'm not really sure, but that's my experience! Also, once the first coat has dried I often go back and re-do the ends again, because that makes them even longer.
For me, experimentation has really perfected it a lot. Hope that helps!
This mascara offers a long and luscious, yet natural, lash that applies easily without clumping. Honestly I've received the most compliments on how great my lashes look, while wearing this mascara.
Cover Girl LashBlast(Steal)
The mascara wand is loaded with bristles that seem to wrap around every single eyelash on your eye. Not only does it boost your lashes, but it's also clump-free, smudge proof, and very easy to apply
First off you want curl your lashes. Start at the base of your lashes and curl for a few seconds then once more near the tips of your lashes. Then with your mascara start again at the base of your lashes and wiggle the wand back and forth going up toward the tips of your lashes. This is what I do and i find the wiggling motion allows you to coat every lash without applying multiple coats.
