do very loud ultrasonic frequencies damage our ears?
do very loud ultrasonic frequencies damage our ears, even if we cant hear them? for example, a 500Db ultrasonic sound...? or something like that.

The small bones in the middle ear that transmit pressure variations to the inner ear (cochlear) cannot respond to ultrasonic frequencies so I would guess the large amplitude ultrasound would have no effect on the ear. However it might affect other tissues. You probably know that it is used for imaging (foetus) and for blood flow measurement and attempts have been made to use it to break up kidney stones and gall stones so it might have some unwanted effects.
