If a research paper is 20% of my semester grade...?
If I already have a 93 average or so in my class, and a research paper I'm writing is worth 20% of my semester grade, how poorly can I get away with on the paper and still get at least an 80 overall for the semester?

If you are doing that well in the course, I highly doubt half assing a paper to barely scrape by is something that you would be interested in doing. That said
if 80% of your grade is a 93 average, then that 93 makes up .93(.80) = .744 or 74.4% of your final grade. If you want your final grade to be 80% then
.20(x) +74.4 = 80
.20x = 5.6
x = 28.
You could get a 28% on the paper and still get an 80 for the course.
