  • Are you trying to connect your PS3 to the Internet? If this is the case, your Operating System (Vista, XP, etc) has nothing to do with connecting your PS3.

Since you are talking about a percentage signal, I am going to assume you are trying to connect online through Wi-Fi (wireless).

Use the support page to help you hook the PS3 up to the Interent. You will need to pick your set up you are trying to use (DSL modem and router or Cable modem and router): http://playstation.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail...

You will probably need to unlock your router in order to see it (since your PS3 isn't picking it up). You will have to go into your router settings to do this. I can not tell you how to do this as each router is different. If you don't know how, go to your router's support page and it should tell you how to unlock it and add a device (the PS3) to the router.

The other person is talking about sharing content between your computer and PS3, or Media Sharing. If this is what you are trying to do (it doesn't sound like it), then you can use Windows Media Player 11 (WMP 11), but it is not required. You can use any Media Sharing software you wish. Here is a list of different Media Sharing software (most of which are free) and how to set them up: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15835...

  • You will need Windows Media Player 11.

You must also be connected to a Wireless or Wired network.

    Setup:

    1. Launch Windows Media Player 11

    2. Press alt, select tools from the dropdown menu and select options.

    3. Select the Library tab then click the configure sharing button.

    4. Tick the share my media box then press ok to the options windows (leave Windows Media Player open).

    5. Boot your PS3.

    6. A prompt should come up.

    7. Go back into Windows Media Player and perform steps 1,2 and 3 again.

    8. There should be an icon saying Unknown device, if there isn't make sure your PS3 is connected to the network.

    9. Select it and select allow.

    10. Press ok and close the Windows.

    11. This should now be working, an icon saying Windows Media Player 11 and your pc name should be there.

Select Ok to any firewall prompts

    Troubleshooting:

    Q. I cannot connect to my computer but the icon is on the XMB.

    A. Select the search for media servers icon again.

    Q. It still won't work.

    A. You may need to configure your firewall.

    Note:

You can only open your streamed video files under the video menu or view your photos in the photo menu and so on. If you try to view them under other menus they will not open.

Edit: Also use this to enable Media Servers...
