PCI Express 2.0 vs PCIEX_1 HELP?
So i am building a custom desktop for the first time. I am going over my parts today on Amazon (of course) and i notice that my graphics card is "PCI EXPRESS 2.0". I check my motherboard to make sure that my mobo in fact has PCI EXPRESS 2.0 Slots. I then find out my motherboard has only PCI EXPRESS 1 slots. The motherboard says "PCIEX 1" Near the slot.
I am no gamer. But i want my graphics card to be able to function at its full ability. So can someone explain to me if my graphics card can be placed into this PCIEX_1 slot? Or do i need to swap for a new MOBO that supports PCI EX 2.0 in order to get best graphics? Help appreciated.

menace is correct and gave you good info about both
Your GIGABYTE GA-H61M-DS2 has 1 x PCI Express x16 slot, running at x16. You have a single long blue slot with a clip at one end. At the other end, just past the slot, you will see PCIEX16 slot label. Your EVGA GeForce 8400 GS 1 GB DDR3 PCI Express x16 v2.0 fits into that slot.
Looks like your mobo is not SLI-compatible, so you can only plug in one video card and not 2-4. that is your blue slot. The other two slots are probably meant for other PCI-E 2.0 devices, such as a USB 3.0 expansion card, wireless card, tv tuner card, etc.
