So I Got Cast As A Cheerleader...?
Ok So I Got Cast As A Cheerleader In A Musical. I Don't Have A Lot Of Lines But I Have A Lot Of Dancing And Cheers. I'm Looking For Tips On How To Look Like I Could Possibly Be A Real Life Cheerleader Because I'm Not. The Props Are In Short Supply. I Am In Simple Scenes Such As The Classroom And The Lunch Room. I Have 4 Fellow Cheerleaders To Work With...Any Tips?
Update:I sound like a cheerleader?! wow well i suppose thats a start...

Try to build a character first. Write a biography of your character- Where she was born, brothers and sisters, likes and dislikes, favorite color/fabric/animal/food. Did she get into cheerleading to be popular, or because her mother was a cheerleader? What is her favorite subject in school? Is she a good cheerleader or a little clutzy?
The more you know about her, the more real your character will be (even in a musical). Most of your character biography may not directly relate to the scenes. It will give you a guide to how she would react and feel in various situations.
Everyone has seen the same stereotype of a ditzy cheerleader a thousand times, so try to bring something unique and a little deeper to it if you can. Good luck.
Acting on any level is made easy if you can connect with people's preconceived stereotypes. When I think cheerleader I think short pleated skirts, bobby sox, fluffy hair etc. Twenty years ago I was cast as the butler/undercover agent, Greasy Pierre in a high school spoof of Sherlock Holmes ' The Hounds of Baskerville'. To effectively look like a sleazy Frenchman, I borrowed my friends unwashed formal suit with unmatching football socks and drew on a 5 o'clock shadow. That role has seen me typecast forever.
Good luck and have fun
Stick with the stereotypical cheerleader cause everyone enjoys them for their stupidity. Watch some movies for the characteristics and go to a football game to see the real thing Good luck and congrats on the part!
Are You Sure Your Not A Cheerleader? You Sound Like One! The Internet Is Full Of Cheerleaders! Just Go On A Porn Site!
Get a cheerleading book and practice some moves. Go to the gym and get in shape. Practice your gymnastics or dance if you were ever good at that. Dance in front of your mirror like Ellen! It loosens you up.
well pretend that you ARE a real cheerleader and get into the role and play as if you were actually one.
or watch bring it on, and other movies containing cheerleaders.even though you dont have many lines, still work your hardest !
hope this helps !
Watch Bring It On. JK, I just like that movie.
Try to act really bubbly and fun. Take a few dance and gymnastics lessons. If your dancing is good, they will block you in the front...
Bubbly... most cheerleaders are bubbly...
My best advise is watch cheerleaders... see how they act and cheer. talk to them... make observations and use them!
Here, try these things:
