How do I write a series?

It's going to be 160 chapters long-- it's a teenage superhero story.

How can I create original storylines that are good?

I wanted to do a clone saga, but it's already been done in Spider-Man, so..

  • Think in terms of comic books. The first book needs to have a modern day problem for your teen superhero to deal with but you need to liberally give your reader his history, background, origins, and how he ended up finally fighting evil.

If his identity is secret, if he is well known, are his exploits revered or hated. Establish if he is the only one of his kind or if there is a possibility for others to exist. And outline his powers and his flaws if any. In the process the story should have a strong enough plot to reinforce all of the information given to the reader previously.

Second and third novels will have him perhaps facing bigger and more dangerous foes, even dealing with biological and chemical warfare, robots, other superhumans as well as perhaps his own powers increasing, his humanity being questioned. ETC...

  • First of all I would start writing a stand alone novel based on this because what you can do then is when you have written a few drafts see if you can get it published. If you can and it becomes big you can then find out where the plot sank short in the standalone and write a second book that fills in the gaps of the first as well as a new storyline. That will then expand to a series.

  • You start by writing...no other way to do it that I know of.

Develop your characters, creating a sound plot with fascinating, unique characters and the original story lines will fall into place. As you brainstorm...asking yourself questions and how each person would react in your story (taking their personalities into consideration) it will come together.

  • How do you write a word? You put your pencil to the paper, or your fingers to the keys, and you type or write until you feel that it is time to end one book and begin another.

I can't tell you how to create a good original story line...
