Which cancer treatment center is better, Cancer Treatment Center of America in Philly or Kimmel Cancer Center at Jefferson, which is also in Philly? Does anyone have statistics or anything on how good they are?
I wouldn't go to Cancer Treatment Center of America if I were on my death bed. Their statistics are greatly construed and twisted and manipulated to make themselves look good. They give the same treatments as hospitals, but "pretty it up" by saying they also give nutritional advice, etc.
I have to agree with the other poster, I would rather go to a research related facility or one that is connected to a University Hospital.
I dont trust CTCA as it does appear they have scewed their cure rate. The thing about CTCA is, they do not do Research, they are not a hospital. They are strictly there as a business and they are in the business of cancer (Big Bucks). I actually toured the CTCA in Philly. I finally decided against them, returned to California (At the Time I was Diagnosed, I was Living in Philadelphia) and went to City of Hope. I will admit, the CTCA was very very nice, everything was brand new, someone was paying for that fancy building and furniture and all the other nice things they had that you wont find at most other cancer centers.
The ultimate choice is up to you. Research the centers before you make a decision. It may have to be a quick decision, because you do not want to delay the treatments, but make the right decision based on your fact finding and feelings

I would go with a university affiliated treatment center any day.

If it were me, I would go with the NCI designated cancer center, without a doubt - and between those, that would be Kimmel.
