Do female dogs queef?

I mean this in all seriousness! Do female dogs queef? Not fart but like, you know queef.. My dog's diet hasn't changed, and she is currently going through heat for the first time and she's been farting (but I don't want to call it a fart..) and the smell is worse than any fart she's had or any dog fart I have ever smelled and I'm curious if anyone else has noticed this..

  • A 'queef' is caused by air trapped in the vagina being released. It's not from built up waste gasses like a fart is. A 'queef' should be pretty much odorless.

The changes in her body caused by her estrus cycle could possibly result in some digestive upset, which would cause her to fart more. She may also have simply gotten into something that she shouldn't have.

  • It could be impacted anal glands. It's common in small dogs but big dogs can get them too. When dogs poop they normally express their anal glands but sometimes if their poop is too soft it can build up. When it finally does express it will stink bad, it can sometimes have a fishy odor.

  • Haha probably. Dogs on heat are strange
