It's a civil contract, not religious, despite what many seem to think. LGB people are no less human than straight people. Straight people are free to get married anywhere (by anyone with a license to do so), then divorce, the very next day, so it's only fair that LGB people should be allowed to celebrate their love for their same-gender partner with all the legal rights that come with marriage.
