SPAM mail from a friend's email address?

If I'm receiving SPAM emails from a friend's email address and them saying they were not the ones who sent them, does that mean the said email address is hacked??

    Yes, that's what it means! Your friend should ask other contacts if they also got spam messages from him.

    A spammer probably has your friend's password. He should change it.
