Ecosystem .. Photosynthetic efficiency?

How do you calculate the photosynthetic efficiency ..the % of solar energy reaching vegetation in an ecosystem that is converted to GPP ???

I know the amount of sol energy, the GPP, NPP etc..

I feel that is the total GPP divided by the amount of solar energy..but a little unsure ..help appreciated !!!

    e= GPP / (fAPAR * PAR)

    where PAR is photosynthetically active radiation and fAPAR the fraction of PAR absorbed by the canopy)
