  • I am fairly certain you can use a bitmap image as a desktop background. Save the image to somewhere you can find it easily, right click on your desktop, select properties then go to Desktop tab. Click "Browse..." and then select the file you saved. This is for Windows for sure (I believe Vista is like this just as XP is)

  • Another thing you could try is to save it as a photo or picture in your "my pictures" folder. When it asked to save as, choose "jpeg or bitmap. Then go to your "my pictures" and right click your picture and choose "make as background".. You might have to restart your pc to see if the image shows as your background.

If nothing else works go to http://www.download.com/PC-Image-Editor/3000-2192_...

This is the "PC Image Editor 3.70 it is only 5.32 MB to download and best of all it is free with no limitations. It works with photos, images and has a paint program. You can make any image you want your background right from the tool bar. If the URL doesnt work just go to http://www.download.com/ and search for "PC Image Editor 3.70

I hope this helps, good luck

  • you can try going into paint and click on the "a" which then a word box should pop up or you should make a word box and then paste the word or picture and then save it and it will become a bitmap or jpeg depends what you save it as.

  • When you go to save, you click the "save as" button, and it should give you the options of saving in bitmap, jpeg.
