Graphics processor vs graphics memory?

I am to buy a laptop and i intend to play some games as well. I know that Built in intel graphics are not a good choice. My question is:

1.--- Is there a difference between 1GB ATI graphics memory with Intel HD graphics 4000 graphics processor AND 1GB ATI graphics with some ATI graphics processor

2.--- I've seen laptops which have dedicated as well as shared video memory. Does it affect the temperature/heating of the laptop if I only have dedicated video memory?

  • 1. 1 GB of graphics memory is 1 GB of graphics memory, whether it's with an integrated Intel graphics card or a dedicated ATI graphics card. But, an integrated Intel graphics card cannot compete with a modern ATI graphics card in terms of processing and performance. With a modern ATI graphics card, It's like having a powerful processor with 1 GB of RAM. With the integrated Intel graphics, it's like having a crappy, slow processor with 1 GB of RAM.

    2. Memory should not affect the temperature significantly. The heat comes from the actual GPU - when it's working at full capacity

  • Off the bat, the Intel pictures card won't be adequate to run COD or fairly any excellent game. Probably the most that you could play could be *perhaps* minecraft on low-medium settings, or other older computer video games. Consistent with the necessities of the AMD desktop, the processor can reach speeds of as much as 2.8Ghz with AMD rapid. So... You are better off with the AMD desktop, after which going into the BIOS and enabling the turbo characteristic, or overclocking the CPU. The Intel computing device may have a greater processor... But it would not have a excellent photos card. So you would lose out on the Intel computer. Backside line, if your processor is dangerous, you could have the exceptional images card on the planet.. And nonetheless not be able to run games well. There needs to be a stability between a just right processor and a good images card. The AMD desktop appears to have the expertise. *phrase of recommendation, gaming on laptops isn't very best. Laptops heat up rapidly.. So i would suggest you don't recreation for long periods of time - as overheating the desktop over-time will intent it to die out rapidly* Hoped this helped -Justin
