  • Promethazine is not a narcotic it is an antihistamine, it is however often prescribed in combination with codeine in cough syrups.

  • It is a non-narcotic drug, meaning it is not controlled by the DEA, but it has narcotic-like effects, it lulls and soothes, it messes with your brain chemicals, it can impair your thinking or reaction times. It also can be deadly when mixed with alcohol, as it slows or depresses breathing.

The drug has a number of uses, including as an antihistamine, a pain medication after surgery, to treat motion sickness or nausea. If you have doubts talk to the doctor and have him/her consult with a pharmacist. Your pharmacist should be your new best friend...they KEEP UP on drugs and often will catch a drug interaction that a doctor didn't even know about. My friend had a pharmacist tell her about a drug interaction that would occur if she had gotten her new prescription filled, based upon what she was already taking.

  • No it's not a narcotic. It's primarily classed as an anti-psychotic actually, of the phenothiazine class. When taken in small doses, this drug is used as an antihistamine and an over the counter sleep medication, as it also has very sedating side effects.

  • will this be positive for Amph
