How do crustaceans procreate? (Seriously, I'm curious.)?

I've never heard of a crab laying eggs and never seen lobsters mount each other, so...how?

  • As with most aquatic animals, they fertilize externally. There is a spawning season for crabs (lobsters, too, probably) where they all gather in tital pools and release their gametes. In some areas the water almost turns black with the amount of crab eggs being pushed along with the waves.

  • Instead of "boning" one another, they "exoskeleton" one another.
