Passport to Canadaaa.?

My friend asked me if I could come to Canada with her. But I couldn't because I don't have a passport. I'd want to be able to use it whenever because she goes to Canada like 1 time every 2 weeks. She was born there so yeah. Do I have to pay to get a passport? Like, Idk anything about them so could you give me some info for the U.S.A to Canada passport Please.(:

And where would I get a passport?

Update:

btw, we aren't flying. we live three hours from Canada so we will drive. and I'm 14 year's old and she's 16. we will be with her parent's though.

  • A passport is a document issued to you by the country you're a citizen of and is used to travel to any other country, not just one country. Google "US passport" and there will be info on how to get one and yes, you have to pay to get one. At your age, you don't need a passport to get back into the US or into Canada if you're travelling by land. You will need a letter from both your parents saying it's okay for you to travel out of the country. You should find a sample of that letter by googling "sample consent letter Canada".

    You don't need a passport until you're 16 but you do need ID, which is proof of citizenship like a birth certificate, and a photo ID is a really good idea. As well as a passport, you can use an enhanced driver's licence if your state has them, once you're old enough to get a licence, or a passport card; those are for land travel only.

  • yes you need a passport to come into canada and to leave canada.

    you just need to get an american passport and they accept them in canada.

    in canadian they cost about 90.00 i believe {cant remember the exact price}

    google passport. and you should find all the information you are looking for and where you can get one.

    ADD: then yes you will need a passport. since your only 14 years old you will need a written note from both of your parents stating that you are allowed to go over the border with your friend and her parents and they need to sign it and put contact information on it.

  • If you are 15 and under and going by Land or Sea (car, truck, train, bus or ferry) then you do not require a passport, your birth certificate is allowed. But they will need a permission letter from your parents stating that you are allowed to travel with them.

  • in my airport, flights to Canada count as domestic, so you don't have to go through customs etc. . normally, to go to countries father away like in Europe or South America if you need to get ANYTHING it's just a visa, not a whole new passport. EDIT: even if your not flying, all you still need is an American passport, and permission from your parents/gaurdians.
