  • you convert the 1/5th and the 5/8th to decimals, to start off.

    i.e 1 divided by 5 = 0.2, +3=3.2

    therefore 3 1/5 = 3.2 in decimal form.

    5 divided by 8 = 0.625 in decimal form.

    therefore 5/8 = 0.625 in decimal form.

then, all you have to do is multiply the converted numbers.

    3.2 x 0.625 = 2

    There's your answer.

P.S you have this in the completely wrong category.

  • Turn the number into a mixed fraction! Do this by: Multiplying the denominator (5) by the whole number (3). Thats 15. Then add the numerator (1). So your mixed number is 16/5 ! Now, you can cross multiply 16/5 & 5/8, by cross simplifying. 8 goes into sixteen twice, so your new numbers are 2/5 and 5/1. Then cross simplify again! Now you have 2/1 and 1/1 , which is 2 &1 . Multiply 2 by 1, and that's your answer !

  • I suggest you move this question either to homework help or to science and mathematics, since it is not a word puzzle it is a maths puzzle.
