  • It's a ten day festival celebrated in India. This practice is usually done in Gujurat which is a subcontinent of India. Navrati is the name of the goddess that men and women dance and sing for for the first couple of nights. It's a polytheistic celebration in others words.

Edit: The second answer has given faulty information. It isn't on the tenth day, it lasts ten days. It is in India specifically in the subcontinent of Gujurat. Inhabitants there are known as Gujuratis, they even have their own sanskrit form of the Hindi language. They dance and sing to the goddess Navrati, and it is just a celebratory thing which has been celebrated by many of them for plenty of years already.

  • It is the 10th Day of a 10 day Holiday. A religious holiday celebrated by all Hindus whether living in India, Nepal as also in Malaysia.

There are many stories around it. About Lord Rama who killed the Demon King Ravana on the 10th day.

Dusserah, as it actually is, is a serious holiday when the Goddess is worshipped in all her forms for 9 days. All keep a fast till they pray. On the 10th day they feast.

It is celebrated in Sept - Oct according to a Lunar Calendar.
