favorite poem?

ok, i have to write a report in which i analyze a poem, any poem, and i cannot for the life of me think of one i like. i don't need the analyzation, i don't even need the poem in full, just some titles and authors of any poem would be helpful

  • I'm going to make it simple for you. Look up "Her Kind" by Anne Sexton. Should be relatively straight forward from there.

  • Check out something by Robert Frost, W.B. Yeats, William Blake, Emily Dickinson, or Edgar Allan Poe. I like all of these authors a lot.

  • Add to your list of poets to look up: Sylvia Plath, Anne Sexton, Robert Bly, Lyn Hejinian, e.e. cummings, Sandra Cisneros....

    That's a diverse list; surely you'll find something among these. Sounds like you need to read more poetry so you can find a poem you like.

  • One of my favorite poems is Annabel Lee by Edgar Allen Poe. You must check it out and see if it would be one you would consider using. I think you should at least read it and take it in, it's beautiful.

  • When you are old and grey and full of sleep,

    And nodding by the fire, take down this book,

    And slowly read, and dream of the soft look

    Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep;

    How many loved your moments of glad grace,

    And loved your beauty with love false or true,

    But one man loved the pilgrim Soul in you,

    And loved the sorrows of your changing face;

    And bending down beside the glowing bars,

    Murmur, a little sadly, how Love fled

    And paced upon the mountains overhead

    And hid his face amid a crowd of stars.

    William Butler Yeats

    Check out anything by him, or Carol Sandberg

  • The Raven by Poe

    Really, any of his poems are fascinating!
