Does a short period mean pregnancy?!?

So basically I had unprotected sex on friday night, he came in me, and I started my period saturday morning, it was normal on sunday and monday it was really light, on tuesday it was gone. Usually my period last for 5-7 days this one was only 3...

Any reasons for a short period?

IF I would have gotten pregnant, would my period stop?

Did my cycle just change?

To be sure how long should I wait for a pregnancy test?

Im not jumping to "im pregnant" but just want to know the possibilites......

I was already expecting my period it usually comes between the 1st - 14th of every month.

it started on the 13th this month and ended on the 16th(morning)

Also I am 21, have had my period since i was 15, and I have been under stress latley, also I got a cold on Monday.

  • i dont really believe you are pregnant, but it is possible that you could have been ovulating because your periods arent very normal if you dont know the exact day when you start. It is possible that your periods may be regulating and its normal to have a 3 day period. Its also possible that implantation could occur the same time of your period. i would wait a couple days and take a test.

    IF I would...

  • It could have just been an off period. You need to test in relation to the last time you had sex, not off your last period. 3-4 weeks from the last time you had sex would be optimum timing. There is no real way to tell if it was a true period or not. Just wait until it is either the right timing to test or your next period.

  • Most women ovulate 2 weeks before their period...not the day before. Of course that doesn't mean that you didn't. BUT even if you did ovulate then....the egg wouldn't have attached to your uterus or affected your period that soon. You could have already BEEN pregnant from the month before which could explain the short period. The act of sex itself could have shortened it....or a number of other things that you already mentioned.

If you're worried about whether or not you might be pregnant....you can test now (but it would only be accurate if you were already pregnant from the month before) You can wait until your next period is due and test then...or you can go to your Dr's office and have them do a blood test around the week before your period is due.

Good luck. And even though you don't ask....Don't have unprotected sex unless you want to get pregnant because it only takes one time...and you can get pregnant if you do it when you ovulate (and remember you're fertile for a few days before AND after you ovulate as well)

  • I dont think thats its entirely impossible, but very highly unlikely. you have to ovulate to get pregnant, and thats around 14 days before you start your period. having a period of any kind is generally your body cleansing itself from unfertilized eggs. stress can surely stop or even slow a period. if you feel the need to test, just for your own peace of mind, then you should do so. if you would rather wait, then wait until you excpect your next cycle and test then. good luck to you and God bless

  • There is no problem. A short period is an answer to too much stress.

  • Just go buy yourself a test, that way you won't have to wonder and try to figure this all out...
