Is Sleep Paralysis considered as a sleep disorder?

im writing a paper on sleep disorders and im wondering if sleep paralysis is one

  • I agree with the answer above. However, sleep paralysis is a natural process. All of us, when we sleep, tend to release a neurotransmitter that inhibits muscular movement. The 'problem' arises when this sensation intrudes into waking periods. Really can't comment on Bruxism (teeth grinding).

  • Yes it is a sleep disorder and is often a component of narcolepsy. One of my children suffers from narcolepsy there is a great deal of information available Simply, type in sleep disorders or the specific sleep disorder you are seeking information about, Sleep paralysis is a natural occuring situation however from those that suffer they awake and their bodies are paralyzed. Very scary!
