  • Your OS 32bit or 64bit?

if your OS is 32bit RAM is limited 3GB, you need OS Windows Vista 64bit and then system can read all of your RAM.

and if you have intergrated graphics card like intel HD it can absorb your RAM for shared memory.

    I hope that helps

  • first time i've heard of "self-modified" windows vista/

upgrade to windows 7 64 bit and you'll be able to use all 4gigs of ram

  • you're looking in the wrong place. also if you're going to install more ram it's better to just replace rather than add-on.
