How multicultural is Sydney?

Update:

Are Greeks not considered White in Australia?

Are there many Pakistanis and Indians in Sydney?

Comments

  • Sydney is one of the most multicultural cities in the world which reflects its role as a major destination for immigrants to Australia.

We have many Pakistanis Indians and Greeks and don't don't usually refer to people by the color of their skin.

  • ......, Australia is very multicultural, with diverse representation of immigrants. Greeks, like Italians, Germans and French etc are classed as Europeans.

There is large communities of Indians and Pakistani in Australian cities like Sydney and Melbourne.

  • Greeks are considered white in Australia.

There's lots of Pakistanis and Indians in Sydney, particularly in the suburbs around Parramatta, Blacktown and Strathfield.

  • Sydney is VERY multicultural

Greeks weren't in the past but that has changed now. Greeks are very common in Australia and considered white.

There are many Pakistanis and Indians in Sydney

  • The colour of someone's skin is seldom mentioned unless it is relevant and obvious. Greeks are Europeans and are the same colour as other Europeans without any distinction.

  • It's like going to another country. A good slab of people don't even speak english down there! lulz

  • Very multicultural. Except there are certain parts which usually have primarily one race. Like if you go to chinatown everyone is asian. If you go to the North Shore, everyone is white, and pretty racist. If you go around Marrickville, there are a lot of Greek, Lebanese and Asian people, and less white people. It just depends where you are, but yes Sydney is very very multicultural. I go to high school in Sydney, and my school is 70% Asian students, yes 70%!

No Greeks are not white.... Greeks and Lebonese people are what a lot of people call "Wogs" it originated as a racist term, but sort of turned into how black people call themselves "******". Except they don't mind if white people say it much now either. They usually have a bit of a different accent, it is very broad and they talk very fast, it is sometimes hard to understand for people not used to it. A lot of the Greek and Lebonese teenagers are the kids who get into trouble at school and beat people up, it is a bit of a stereotype, but it is true in a lot of cases, but don't be scared of them or anything, it's only people that make them mad, and people like that are in every country.

Also, you could compare greeks and lebonese to Mexicans in the U.S.A, they are sort of similar in a way.

And yes there is quite a lot of Indians and Pakistanis, not as much as East Asians or Greeks, but there is a decent ammount.
