How do you reset you garage door?

My garage door is messed up. The guy across the street from me is able to open up my garage door with his remote. What do I need to change? The frequency? The code? And how do I reset the frequency/code? By the way, I have a Liftmaster

  • if it doesn't have the dip switches and is a newer style with the learn code/smart button. They are usually on the opener where the small wires come off the ceiling to it. It is a little cut-out. if you look there will be a little colored disk to push (red,, green or yellow) and hold. if you press your remote you'll see a LED light come on. press and hold in the colored disk until the LED light goes out. That will erase all the memory of the opener. Now one at a time code in your remotes. Press disk and let go LED will be blinking, press button on remote. Your opener light will flash on?off, letting you know that the opener excepted the remote. Do the same if you have more than one. Once done those are the only things that should open your door.

  • If it has dip switches on the opener and the remote just change them to a different setting, make sure all the little switches match on the opener and the remote, and it should work.

  • seem like there is a button or switch labelled 'learn' on the motor unit. pushing it flashes the light and gives you 30 seconds to enter a new code on the keypad. Remember: Sears doesn't make these things, they bid them out and whoever will make them least expensively to Sears specs will get the bid that year. There are many models made by many manufacturers.
