Is Suzhoudress.com a scam?

Okay, so Suzhoudress is this Chinese dress website that sells dresses from cocktail to weddings and such. I wanted to buy my prom dress from there but I made sure to look at the reviews and I've seen great ones but also bad ones. I really want that dress and me and mom already tried looking for it at other places too but no luck so far. Still looking.

If anyone knows if it's reliable, tell me please. I've been eyeing that dress for months now.

  • They might send you something that sort of resembles a dress, but it will not be what you are wanting. You would be better off seeking a seamstress in your area, even if it costs a bit more.

  • I don't know that particular site. But in general the problem with any Chinese site is, the dress you receive can look nothing like the pictures, might not fit, can take 12 weeks to get to you, and you cannot return it

You are better off buying fabric yourself and finding a local tailor to make the dress you want. It might cost more but you know what you are getting and go in for fittings so you know it fits you perfectly

Every year around prom time you'll find hundreds of posts here from people who bought on Chinese sites who either didn't get their dress in time, or whose dress didn't look like the pictures, or whose dress didn't fit. The problem is, these companies change names all the time and often operate under 10-20 different names. They also post fake positive reviews

I'll tell you a friend's nightmare. She found the wedding dress of her dreams on a Chinese site and couldn't find it anywhere else. She sent in her exact measurements as per their instructions. The dress did not arrive until 3 days before her wedding even though it was supposed to arrive 3 weeks earlier. Instead of a cream silk dress like they described, it was cheap shiny white polyester. The pearls were glued rather than sewn on and most of them fell off in the box during shipping. But the worst was that the dress did not fit at all - she could not even get the zipper closed and the hem was about 5" too short. She's a size 6 and sent her measurements and the dress that arrived was like a size 0 Petite. So she had to run around 3 days before the wedding trying to find a new dress that fit her and did not need any alterations. I wish I still had the pictures to show you

But look at this picture - here's another woman who posted the picture from the dress site vs the dress she received http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2015/01/14/24AC9499...
