So what bra size am I?

Rib size is 27, so the band is 32, right? And chest size is about 30-31. Wouldn't that be like aa or even aaa? LOL. But I bought a 32aa bra and it's way too tight; the band leaves a red mark and I feel like my breasts are going to pop out - you can see that they already are overflowing the cups if I wear a tight shirt, and my nipples almost show without a shirt on. Then I bought a 32a bra, and it's better, but the bands still sort of leave a red mark and the back rides up a bit. Should I go ahead and try a 34a? But I can't just keep trying bras and buying new ones, now can I. There are no good bra stores near me, only Victoria's secret, where a 32a is actually like a 38frikkin C, so I order online from Gilly Hicks and don't get to try them on. I don't want to get measured either by a lady at VS because I measured, and um, apparently, I'm at most a 32aa, and she'll just tell me to go home. But I'm not actually a 32aa!! Ugh I'm so frustrated that I would post a picture, but I'm 13 and there are pervs on here lmao. HELP MEE

  • I would say you are a 28C actually

Most people think red marks mean that your bra band is too tight but they are caused by the band moving up your back and thus digging into your breast tissue. I would try a 30B/C if I were you (VS and LaSenza now sell these sizes and if you buy the right bra size it will fit you without the gaps)

the method of adding inches to the band size was created in the early 1900's because bra materials didn't stretch so women had to add inches to the band size so that it would be comfortable. Places like VS and LaSenza still do this today because they want to make their customers fit their bras not their bras fit their customers.

The modern method is to take the under bust as the band size and subtract the band size from the bust measurement to get the cup size.

A bra size calculator that does this can be found here at http://www.sophistocatedpair.com/bracalculator.htm

The perfect band size is one that you can only fit two fingers under at the back and the perfect cup one that fits your larger breast and doesn't cause any bulges.

Here is how to take your measurements

find a soft tape measure in inches

take off everything and stand up

use a mirror and stand sideways to it so you can see your profile

measure directly below the bust around the rib cage with the tape measure parallel to the floor make sure that the tape measure is tight but not pinching your skin

this is your band size, don't add anything to it or take anything away, if it is a 38 you are a 38 if it is a 37 I would try a 36 first but you may be a 38, if it is a 36 you are a 36, anything in decimal form then round down, trust me on that one, bra materials stretch a lot

Now write down your band size

for the cup size lean forward so that all of your breast tissue is to the front of your body

measure the same way as for the band with the tape measure parallel to the floor if you stand up but make sure you do this leaning over and measure it across the part of your breasts that 'hang' down the farthest when you are leaning over

while still leaning over record this measurement, it should not be tight, in fact it should be loose just resting the tape measure on your tissue and not compressing it anywhere

this is your bust circumference. Subtract your band size from this number

the number you just calculated is your cup size for that band size, round normally to the closest whole number. one inch difference is A, 2-B, 3-C, 4-D, 5-DD, 6-E, 7-F, 8-FF, 9-G, 10-GG etc.

  • Honestly, just go to a local store/mall nearby you. You don't have to go to a victorias secret or any of that crap. I go to Kohls and just try bras on there. Most stores like Wal Mart, Meijer, and etc sell them. I am not sure when you live, but I mean, if you find a store that sells bras and has a fitting room, go for it.

I wouldn't feel good going to a place that measures me, only because it is my body and I don't like having hands all over me, but if that is your only option, go for it. They won't judge you or give dirty looks or anything, they probably dealt with all sizes.

    Good luck,

ALSO, do NOT under any circumstance send a picture at all. I am 16 and not even I can tell by looking at a picture what size you would be. Pedophiles, perverts and so on are everywhere, boys, girls, men, woman. Do NOT send a picture. Be smart. :3
